Logan’s left a bitter-sweet taste in our mouth. Even as we wait for the Blu-Ray release of that film, Marvel has another big surprise for us. Josh Boone, who is directing the X-Men reboot, ‘New Mutant’s has told Entertainment Weekly that the new film will be very, very different. What he said, basically, is that the film is going to be a straight up horror. He said that the film will have no costumes, no super-villains. Basically, it will be something distinctly different from the X-Men trope that we have seen.
During the interview, Boone also dropped the ‘S’ word. He said that the film is coming out to be very different, a dark, surrealistic and impressionist X-Men, something like Stephen King meets John Hughes.
The characters in the film are Wolfsbane, Magik, Sunspot and others. The plot has a promising horror premise:
“Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world—they’re just trying to save themselves.”
New Mutants releases in April, 2018.
