When we first heard about SonyLIV’s short film, we were unimpressed. The press release told us that the Girl on Heels was based on the casting couch thing that’s prevalent in Bollywood. No word on whether the casting couch thing exists in Bollywood, but if you mention it, you will certainly get the ‘roll eye’ respond. But this short film is much, much more than some done and dusted story about the casting couch. In fact, Girl on Heels introduces what could be one of the strongest psychopath characters in Bollywood. Here’s our Girl on Heels review:
Girl on Heels is much, much more than some done and dusted story about the casting couch. In fact, this psychological thriller short film introduces what could be one of the strongest psychopath characters in Bollywood. What begins as an ‘every day’ story of an aspiring model trying to get a foothold in the Bollywood film industry becomes a psychopath’s trail for revenge, and that too at startling speed.
Girl on Heels has a total cast of around 4 people with 3 playing the main lead roles. There’s Luviena, playing the main protagonist, then there’s Oksana Rasulova and Pulkiet Jawahar playing the two antagonists. No word on who had written the script, but the director is Nikhil Lodh. Nikhil handles the subject well. We liked the ‘in your face’ camera angles and believe that’s what made the end product so much more stunning. The performances are par for the course. This one is a must watch for anyone looking for an intriuging thriller. Watch the film here:
