The Sound pits a skeptic against an ancient evil

The Sound interestingly pits a skeptic against an ancient evil.

Samuel Goldwyn Films releases The Sound on September 29. This Hollywood horror and suspense film stars Rose McGowan, Christopher Loyd, Michael Eklund and others. According to the synopsis the film is about:

A supernatural skeptic (Rose McGowan) sets off to debunk paranormal sightings using low frequency sound-waves in an abandoned subway station and is met with unforeseen evil and eerie memories.

The trailer introduces Rose and Christopher and also hints at the origin of whatever lurks in the subway station. I was quite kicked about The Sound trailer. The trailer promises a dark, brooding style of film-making that I would expect from a psychopathic thriller that it wishes to be.

Skeptics against evil is an interesting concept. While it has made its appearance in several horror films – both Bollywood and Hollywood – I think the concept still has a lot of potential and needs to be explored a lot more. It will be interesting to see Christopher Loyd in a new horror film. Loyd has already been part of an iconic almost horror scene in the Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabhan.

Jenna Mattison writes and directs The Sound, while Geoff Hart, Allan Ungar, Michelle Weisler co-produce.  The Sound is set to hit theaters on Sept 29. Interestingly, the film will also hit VOD and online on the same date.
