We have seen this earlier in Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow and Bill Murray’s Groundhog day, but Blumhouse went ahead and added a horror aspect to it in Happy Death Day. That’s correct, Happy Death Day is about a woman’s killed on her birthday, but she has a chance to relive that particular day and stop the killer before he turns her birthday into her death day.
The interesting concept has me pretty clicked up. It’s amazing how newer horror production houses are coming up with better, spunkier scripts and concepts for horror. Happy Death Day stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken and Laura Clifton. Christopher Landon directs and Scott Lodbell writes. This film releases on October 13.
The trailer is a bit long but I guess it was needed to show off the mundane-ness of a person going through the same day all their lives. At least in the trailer, there’s a weird sense of humor and a scope on the human aspect of it all. Director Landon seems to have decided to steer clear from all the cliched masks of a stalker/slasher/killer and has gone ahead with what seems to be a legit child-doll mask.
