Josh Boone confirms New Mutants is supernatural horror

Josh Boone, the director of the New Mutants films has told IGN that the trilogy of films will be horror films – and that too different sub genres of horror films. He had earlier told Entertainment Weekly that the films will not be a typical superhero and cape films, but be horror ones.


Now, he has revealed that the films will be a different genre of horror films. He said that the first one will be a rubber reality kind of supernatural horror film and then the other film could be a completely different kind of horror.  He also said that the films will be based on the series run by Bill Sienkiewicz with Chris Claremont.

Boone was very forthcoming as to what the films were inspired from. He said that they took references from Stephen King’s stuff, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.  The New Mutants hits theaters on April 13th.
